Empowering Our Community: Partners In Community Takes a Stand for Environmental Justice
Partners In Community, a dedicated local nonprofit organization, is taking a significant step into the realm of Environmental Justice. We are thrilled to announce our inaugural event: a Community Lunch & Learn dedicated to ensuring every neighbor has access to safe, healthy water and environmental systems.
Environmental Justice is about more than just numbers; it’s about people. It’s about ensuring all communities, regardless of race, income, or zip code, have equal access to a clean and safe environment. Historically, marginalized communities have been disproportionately affected by environmental hazards, and safe drinking water is a fundamental human right that is too often compromised. By providing resources and expertise, we can begin to address these imbalances.
Our first event, the Community Lunch & Learn: Environmental Health & Your Water, will be held at the Cedar Grove Community Building on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This event is a critical opportunity for the community to learn about the vital relationship between environmental health and our drinking water, specifically focusing on well water and septic systems. The complete event flyer is included below.
We are incredibly proud that this event is Sponsored by Black Voters Matter, whose support emphasizes the inextricable link between environmental justice and social and political empowerment.
The informative session will include:
- Expert Advice: We have arranged for expert staff to be on hand to answer all questions about well water quality and septic system maintenance, providing direct access to information that impacts daily health.
- Tangible Resources: A special gift of a free, faucet-mounted water filter will be given to the first 50 attendees. This provides an immediate, tangible solution for improved water safety.
- Community Connection: To ensure everyone can participate comfortably, a free catered lunch will be provided by Chef Kamilah & Michael Baker of “Hey Baker, Yes Chef.” This creates a space for connection and shared learning.
Partners In Community is committed to expanding our work in Environmental Justice, recognizing that environmental health is a cornerstone of a truly equitable society. This event is just the beginning of a larger effort to empower our community with knowledge, resources, and a voice in environmental matters.
We invite everyone in the community to join us, learn about the impact of wells and septic systems on their water, and take a proactive step towards environmental wellness.
